Detail of a 1910s poster advertising the transatlantic voyages of the RMS Titanic.

A SpaceX rocket launches from the "Titanic II", formerly the "Democracy of America", as its autocratic captain, Donald J-for-Jonah Trump, erratically steers the ship while declaring all reports of an ice field to be "Fake News!"
The crew have been carefully selected (in a Pavlovian sense) from the same demographic as those who worshipped the singer of, "Thriller" and who slavishly perform every task asked of them.
To ensure they never break free from internal thralldom, the crew's psychological submission is constantly reinforced by the band, conducted by J D Vance, who play popular hits such as, "Russia didn't invade Ukraine" and "Attacking a Tesla car is terrorism, but attacking the United States Capitol Building is not".
Financial backer Elon Musk hovers around the bridge, totally unaware that he is only so close to the centre of power because, no matter how rich and useful he is, Musk can never become captain - no threat, see?
Now the ship has been built, the lack of an official position emphasises that Musk is surplus to requirements and can be thrown overboard at the drop of a hat - Watch this spaceâŠ
I would be grateful for a visit to the above post on X.com where it is subject to a "shadow ban" (ie it's circulation is very restricted).
A subsequent, "like" or "repost" on X is beyond expectation but would bring a week's Free Good Luck by way of reward đ

Despite having been in TITANIC's thrall since one Mr. Robert Ballard discovered her resting place in 1985 (thank God, I was overnighting at my grandparents' when the news broke; my grandfather was a history buff, and probably only too happy to let me watch the news break with him!), we found out about this exhibition from someone half a world away. More about that later, but my husband immediately snapped up tickets for the last week of the exhibit. We were not entirely sure what to expect, but it was very well done, rich in artifacts and information (even I learned a few things, and that's despite having at least two shelves' worth of books about the vessel and ocean liners in general). We may have broken the record for time spent--twoish hours--but it was worthwhile.
More to come. Since I couldn't make the Pumpkin Run this year, you all will just have to suffer. ;)
There was a very friendly docent who apparently saw my eyes well up when I was able to touch a portion of TITANIC's hull (yes, yes, I did, on both counts, and I don't cry easily) who politely told me all kinds of things about the ship I already knew. He was, of course, simply being helpful and informative, and I am happy to say he was accurate in all he said! He wasn't annoying, of course, just doing his best to add to the experience. No doubt many visitors appreciated what he was able to add to the experience, and of course, it's always lovely to meet a kind person out 'in the wild' these days.
This will sound insane, but it would have been nice to see a little about OLYMPIC, which vessel had a truly incredible career that only ended in 1935. Since most interior photos purporting to be of her younger sister TITANIC are in fact from OLYMPIC, it only seems right--and she was very much a fine, grand ship in her own right, and quite popular among travellers.
