D8 ‘Penyghent’ has just arrived at Rowsley South with the 14:25 freight from Matlock Riverside. Meanwhile the two car class 108 DMU made up of 52062 and 51950 are about to form the 15:30 to Matlock.
The last two survivors of the Class 44s are reunited for the appropriately named "Twin Peaks" Diesel Gala at the equally appropriately named Peak Rail. 44004 "Great Gable" is visiting from the Midland Railway Centre and joins the resident D8 "Penyghent". Both locos were built at Derby in 1959 and remained in use with BR until 1980. Rowsley South, Saturday 12th April 2025.
