Reading on the Pennsy

Something "new". With SEPTA's old reliable GE Silverliner IVs celebrating their 50th birthday in 2024, SEPTA decided to retrofit four cars into their as delivered appearances, complete with heritage decals and a fresh acid washing. The first of these cars to be done is SPAX 280, built as Reading Company 9018, this car was the first SL IV to be delivered.

I got word that 280 would be making a mid-rush hour trip up the Northeast Corridor to Trenton and back on trains 725 and 726. Here, SEPTA 725 is seen arriving at Levittown Station about 15 minutes late.

FUND SEPTA rally

April 11, 2025
- Hundreds of SEPTA riders and city and state officeholders rallied at Philadelphia City Hall to oppose proposed drastic cutbacks in mass transit and to demand state legislators pass funding bills to allow SEPTA to exist.
Proposed cutbacks would include:

Almost every route will experience reductions in service, with some facing elimination. Other service impacts may include reduced hours, less frequent service, and shortening the length of routes.

Route Eliminated: 50 bus routes, 5 regional rail lines, 1 metro line

Route Shortened: 16 bus routes

Route Realigned: Five routes are being realigned to mitigate other cuts, service levels may still be reduced

Mode Conversion: Two trolley routes will be permanently converted into bus routes

Major Service Reductions: All regional rail and metro lines face up to a 20% reduction in service and elimination of all service after 9PM
