Manneken Pis - Bruxelles (Belgium)

BXL_05 [50 points]
The most iconic place and space invader in Brussels. Brussels has survived two waves of invasions. The first was in March 2012, when 40 space invaders were placed. In July 2022, two more were added as part of the 'Invader Rubikcubist' exhibition. The total is 42, of which 32 are currently 'flashable' according to the Invader-Spotter app.

Stoofstraat 8, Bruges, Belgium

This narrow alleyway is known as Stoofstraat (Stove Street). In the past, this was a red light district where the elite would often visit. Today, the alleyway is full of little boutiques and workshops and makes for great photos.

Stoofstraat, Bruges, Belgium

This narrow alleyway is known as Stoofstraat (Stove Street). In the 14th and 15th centuries, there was a bathhouse where well-heeled gentlemen and traders came to bathe. It was also a red light district which provided relaxation and spicy pleasure to the wealthy Bruges residents and the international population in Bruges.

The bathhouse disappeared from the scene in the mid-16th century. In the second half of the 20th century, the little-used alley was discovered by tourism and incorporated into the walking route, soon with various shops and a restaurant catering to tourists.

Stoofstraat (Stove Street)

April 24, 2022 - Stoofstraat (Stove Street) this plaque talks about the origins of the street.

"An alley in Bruges so narrow that you almost walk straight past: that’s Stoofstraat (Stove Street). But in the 14th and 15th centuries, the atmosphere in Stove Street was steamy, to say the least. Here there stood a bathhouse where well-heeled gentlemen and traders came to bathe. And one thing led to another. Because of its bad reputation the bathhouse disappeared in the mid-16th century. Stove Street is now full of little boutiques and workshops, and even an outstanding restaurant." Previous description I found here: www.pinterest.com/pin/893331276054959229/
