Burning up the rails beneath it, westbound NS empty unit grain train 43Z scorches through KD Tower, KY, illuminated by veiled sunshine that will soon give way to the thick, ominous coming storm clouds rolling quickly overhead on April 5, 2025.

Cyclone Alfred hit the Gold Coast on March 8 2025. This was still the gloomy outlook along the coast from Bilinga to Surfers Paradise three days later. This week it's pouring rain again. Ironically, a former State Premier Peter Beattie popularised the slogan for Queensland Tourism, "Beautiful one day, perfect the next'. Not this month it seems!
Early last week, dust from storms in Oklahoma and Texas reached our area here in Northern Illinois affecting our skies for days. On this particular day,a storm front came through and mixed with the dust causing these unusual brown skies. Rain from these storms made a mess of vehicles and kept local car washes busy for days...
Downpour...
While driving home at the end of a long day hiking; This shot taken moments before a sudden storm turned the roads to rivers and the visibility dropped to only a few meters..

A storm front passing over the 1906 barn in my area of northwest Illinois. This front brought us our first measurable rain in nearly a month. After above average moisture throughout the first 8 months of the year, we have received just over an inch in the last 10 weeks Great harvest weather but there maybe a price to pay next year...
Grazing..
While Karen was driving through south Caledon Hills just north of the Grange, we spotted this storm front to our right. I rolled down my passenger window and shot several images along the side of the highway.
In one of the fields, two horses were quietly grazing. The whole scene was glowing in the strained light of the sun, which was desperately trying to break through the thick cloud coverage.
