I dropped in at Perkins in Pickering for some breakfast after a nearby appointment. They have a pretty good deal that includes bacon, sausage, eggs, and pancakes for only CDN$8.95. It's a pretty good value for the money.

Pad Thai with Chicken

My friend and I were fortunate enough to be the first to get in for the Grand Opening special at the recently opened Thairoomgrand in Pickering. They were offering Pad Thai for only $1 (one dollar) to the first 100 walk-in customers.
We each got a very generous serving of delicious Pad Thai Noodles with Chicken. There was no shortage of rich flavour!
We also ordered Thai Spring Rolls (glass noodles with vegetables, deep fried) and Thai Cold Spring Rolls (vegetables rolled in rice paper, uncooked). Both were delicious!
I'll definitely be coming back to try more from their menu!

Papaya Salad with Salted Eggs

There are several really good Thai restaurants within a 5km stretch of the Scarborough/Markham border. Jatujak, located at Steeles and Middlefield, was the first, serving authentic Thai cuisine. Although it's been a little while, I've been there many times since they first opened in 2019. Their decor has been upgraded since my last visit. Nice!
Our meal started with Thai Calamari, Papaya Salad with Salted Eggs, and Spicy Beef Salad (Nam Tok Nua). The flavours were rich, with beautiful presentation, and good portions. Each dish included generous amounts of fresh vegetables, which I liked. Great start!
Our main courses included Fried Fish with Tamarind (Pla Lui San), Eggplant Delight, Holy Basil with Beef, and Pad Kee Mao with Tofu. I'm not a fan of eggplant but my dining companions loved it. The beef dish and pad kee mao were very tasty and the fish was excellent! It was fried crispy, with great texture, and tons of flavour. This may have been my favourite dish of the evening!
As stuffed as we were, we had to have their Mango Sticky Rice. Again, the presentation was beautiful and the flavours were really good, without being too sweet. I also had a Mango Mojito that was pretty good!
This was a really good meal, maybe the best I've had here. I'll definitely be back!
