Edited and uploaded for the group "Smile on Saturday! :-)" and the theme "Things with Wings". HSoS!
The US Air Force Academy has a few "Things with Wings" on display on its grounds in Colorado Springs, with Pikes Peak in the background. Taken during the Christmas season last year when I was helping out at the community chapel.
This is the Northrop T-38A Talon at the Thunderbird Airmanship Overlook. From the display:
"The T-38 is the US Air Force's Advanced Jet Pilot Trainer capable of supersonic speeds." The Talon first flew in 1959... The Thunderbirds Demonstration Team flew T-38s from 1974 through 1982. A tragic crash involving the Demonstration Team in 1982 marked the last use of the T-38 by the Thunderbirds. This aircraft is painted in the Thunderbirds' paint scheme in remembrance of that accident."
This winged lion represents Saint Mark the Evangelist, patron of Venice, in the statue outside of the Venetian resort in Las Vegas. As the sky darkened it was turning very strange shades of purplish blue. Here's a companion photo taken earlier that same day: flic.kr/p/2ozEYV6.

We've just come back from Poland, which seems to be full of dragons! This is the Dragon of Toruń, Poland.
On 13th August 1746, two people testified that they saw the dragon in the city and watched it fly back to the ruins of the Teutonic Castle.
Toruń is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in North Central Poland and is the birth place of Nicolaus Copernicus. As with all UWH sites it is definitely worth a visit.
Happy Smile on Saturday!
This is our friendly neighbour Mr Bird. Mr Bird is standing on a fence and keeps an eye on things. You never hear him grumble (even when it's raining and the wind is blowing), he greets everyone who passes and everyone he meets here on Flickr. But... don't call mr Bird a thing, he is very sensitive.
Have a nice weekend (don't forget to smile, it's Saturday!) and thanks for your views, faves and comments.
