Jongmyo Shrine was the place where the Joseon Dynasty held ancestral rites with kings and queens, and the deities of kings and queens who were preserved.
During the Joseon Dynasty, the current Jeong-jeon Hall was called Jongmyo, but now Jongmyo includes both Jeong-jeon and Yeongnyeong-jeon Hall. The Jongmyo Shrine was composed of decorations and techniques, which create a dignified and sacred atmosphere, as it is a space for royal ancestral rites.
Jeong-jeon is a building where the king and queen move to the shrine after three years of mourning in the palace after their death.
The long and wide-spread mausoleum wall represents "stability", the endless array of columns on the front of the building symbolizes "the perpetuity of the throne", and the roof that seems to extend horizontally to the end of the sky symbolizes "infinity."
If you go to Jongmyo Shrine when the sun rises or sets, you can see the shadow of pillars falling on the building. It is more magnificent, quiet, and beautiful especially on snowy or rainy days.
Matsumoto Castle, whose construction started in 1504, was completed its "keep" around 1591 - 1615 based on historic documentations. It's often referred to as "Karasu-jo (Crow Castle" for its black exterior and the appearance as if a crow is spreading its wings. It was originally built by the Ogasawara Clan before this area invaded by Takeda Clan, then Tokugawa Ieyasu ruled the castle when he ruled the entire Japan. It went under several restoration processes including the repair of the keep (tenshukaku) which used to lean around 1904.

My father-in-law had an idea to take our little 10 month old son to the aquarium of California Academy of Sciences, located within the large Golden Gate Park of San Francisco.
Our son loved seeing all the fishes for the first time, and we also took a little walk inside the artificial rainforest too.
This is a wonderful natural history museum. Only one thing I hate about is the price of the tickets. Luckily we used the program "Oakland Public Library Discover and Go" so it was free for me and my wife at least, but otherwise I don't know
A gothic architecture piece located on Kapitol, Zagreb. A beautiful cathedral and you don't see that many tourists here considering the significance of this building. Originally constructed in 1053, yet destroyed a few times just like many historic buildings, the restoration completed in 1906.

The beautiful city of Cuzco (Cusco), the heart of the Inca's Sacred Valley near Urubamba Valley. The altitude is approximately 3400m (11200ft) above sea level. This is from the very first day we arrived to Cusco and were getting used to the altitude. While we walk around the spots in this Inca Heartland, we observed lots of traces of Inca Heartland, remainders of the ruins, and also lots of tourists traps.
Needless to say there's much to see in this historic city. From colonial architecture in Plaza de Armas to the world's famous stone walls built by Inca Empires, cute baby llamas to Quechuan tribes dressed up so that they can do their business with tourists... It's fun, and soon we forgot about the fear for altitude.

The mountains of Kirishima are an important site in the creation mythology of Japan. It was in this area that the god Ninigi no Mikoto, grandson of the sun goddess Amaterasu, is said to have descended from heaven to rule over the earth.
Ninigi no Mikoto landed on nearby Mt. Takachiho-no-mine bringing with him the three imperial regalia: the sword, the mirror and the gem; symbols of the imperial family. He eventually married a local princess, becoming mortal in the process, and established the lineage of Japanese Emperors.
Devoted to Ninigi no Mikoto, Kirishima Shrine was built during the Muromachi Period on a different site from where it stands today. Since then it has been destroyed numerous times by volcanic eruptions, but always rebuilt. The current shrine was constructed in 1715 where it survives to this day. Its large, beautiful buildings are surrounded by forest and have been declared important cultural property.
