This one was larger then the tiny green sweat bee I'd seen earlier. And it has stripes on the abdomen. What is it with sweat bees and yellow flowers? I'd previously seen them on large sunflowers. This one is a female. The males have yellow and black abdomens.

This beautiful tiny emerald bee is a bee lifer for me. The giant sunflowers were the perfect background. Sunshine brought out the lovely metallic green colors.

Nicknamed "Ultra Green Sweat Bee" by UC Berkeley staff at their Urban Bee Lab, this is a female Agapostemon species, probably A. texanus.
A female green sweat bee browsing on Euthamia occidentalis, also known as Western Goldenrod.
Probably a female Agapostemon species browsing on Encelia californica while a cucumber beetle watches.
