After the curious young polar bear left our SUV it returned to the rocks and shoved its head into a snow cavity and pulled out a small bush, which it then rejected as being inedible. Note the bush in its mouth and its snow-covered head. The onshore sea ice of Hudson Bay is in the background.

In the second shot of this series, the curious polar bear tops a small rise on the rocky peninsula on its bee-line towards our SUV. Gotta love those beautiful big feet! My telephoto lens was at 500 mm. Hudson Bay shoreline, Manitoba.

A curious polar bear that was foraging for something to eat on a rocky peninsula on the shores of Hudson Bay catches the scent of our SUV and starts making a bee-line towards the car, as this series continues. Its body language suggests curiosity rather than aggression. Churchill, Manitoba.

During the lean times, while waiting for freeze up, polar bears, with their sensitive noses, sniff along the shoreline and the inshore ice for kelp, carrion and other edibles, as this bear is doing.
