Buffalo resting in the shade of a big tree on the savannah viewed from the observation deck of the famous Treetops Hotel in Kenya's Aberdares National Park. It was here that a young woman named Elizabeth was staying in 1952 when she found out that her father had died, and she had become a queen.

Eine Quelle des Lebens und das im Tal des Todes, das ist dieser kleine Wasserfall im Death Valley Nationalpark. So heiß, trocken und lebensfeindlich das Death Valley auf den ersten Blick auch erscheinen mag, es gibt dort viele Quellen, kleine Bachläufe, mysteriöse, endlos tiefe Wasserlöcher. In verstecken Oasen findet man ein oftmals erstaunliches Grün vor sowie Tiere, die man in einer sonst derart trockenen Wüste nicht erwarten würde.

A source of life in the valley of death, that is this small waterfall in Death Valley National Park. As hot, dry and hostile as Death Valley may seem at first glance, there are many springs, small streams, mysterious, endlessly deep water holes. In hidden oases you can often find amazing greenery and animals that you would not expect in such a dry desert.

Kann man diesen Nationalpark noch besuchen oder wurde er mittlerweile geschlossen nachdem Musk/Trump tausende Stellen auch beim Nationalpark-Personal gestrichen hat. Ist das überhaupt noch ein Nationalpark oder baut man hier jetzt Erz ab ? Die Zeiten ändern sich, ein hübsches Bild bleibt.

Can you still visit this national park or has it been closed since Musk/Trump cut thousands of jobs, including national park staff. Is it still a national park or is ore being mined here now? Times change, but a pretty picture remains.

Es ist ein Morgen wie er trüber nicht sein könnte, aber im Radio sagen sie auf den Bergen scheint die Sonne. Also, der Fotorucksack ist immer griffbereit, rauf auf den Hausberg. 300 Höhenmeter, in 45 min bin ich oben. Verdammt, nicht hoch genug, noch stehe ich im Nebel, der blaue Himmel ist aber erkennbar. Also wieder runter, ins Auto, 20 km Fahrt, rauf auf den nächsten Berg, 350 Höhenmeter hochgerannnt, der Berg ist 50 m höher, aber immer noch nicht hoch genug. 2 Stunden bei -6 °C abgewartet und dann doch wieder runtergerannt. 8 km Autofahrt, 20 min bergauf, höchster Berg der Gegend und noch ein Aussichtsturm drauf. Die Sonne scheint schön, aber nun bin ich 150 meter über dem Nebel, auch nicht ideal, aber egal. Ich hatte meinen Sport und schön war`s trotzdem. Dieses Bild ist vom 2. Berg.

It was a morning that couldn't be more cloudy, but on the radio they said the sun was shining on the mountains. So, my camera backpack was ready and I headed up the local mountain. 300 meters above sea level, I was at the top in 45 minutes. Damn, not high enough, I was still standing in the fog, but I could see the blue sky. So I got back down, got in the car, drove 20 km, up the next mountain, ran up 350 meters, the mountain was 50 m higher, but still not high enough. I waited 2 hours at -6 °C and then ran back down. 8 km drive, 20 minutes uphill to the highest mountain in the area and there was another observation tower on top. The sun was shining beautifully, but now I'm 150 meters above the fog, not ideal either, but no matter. I had my sport and it was still beautiful. This photo is from the 2nd mountain.

Der Beerfelder Galgen im Odenwald ist die älteste, noch im Originalzustand erhaltene Hinrichtungsstätte ihrer Art in Deutschland. Errichtet im Jahre 1597 wurden hier bis 1804 Missetäter nicht nur aufgehängt, nein, man ließ sie hier zur zur völligen Verwesung hängen. Quasi als Mahnung.

This gibbet was built in 1597 and was used til 1804. The Beerfelden Gibbet is the oldest place of execution in the original state in Germany. Convicts have been not only hanged here, their dead bodys were left here til their complete decay.
