Recently, 2485H lost power to its traction motors at Morven, while pulling the Westlander. 2490H was sent to retrieve the train and is shown while climbing Ludlow Hill eastbound, just east of Dulacca.

Queensland Railway's Westlander led by 2485H had broken down at Morven, so 2490H was sent out to rescue it. Very rare to see it eastbound in daylight in our district but here it is passing Jaydee farm, between Dulacca and Drillham.

A surprise this morning, 12 June 22, when 2490H and 2415 led a sleeper train through Dulacca, discharging replacement timber sleepers.

The 2470 class were an evolution of the 2450 class. They differed in having lighter alternators and smaller fuel tanks.[1][2][3][4] A 2470 class was built by Clyde Engineering for the Townsville Harbour Board, this was later sold to Queensland Rail.

Between 2000 and 2002, six were rebuilt as 2300 class locomotives at Redbank Railway Workshops.[5][6]
