The Flickr 2K Image Generatr

A resident bird of the subcontinent found in the undergrowth around wet areas with lots of insects and flies. The birds are seen hunting for these a couple of feet above the ground. They have these quick agile movements and are not known to be in a perch / spot for more than few seconds.

This is the nesting season and we sighted 4-5 of them in a forest area. 2 were collecting nesting materials - some dry litter from the forest floor. And once it collects the materials, the bird surveyed around looking for potential predators that can see its home, and then moved to the place.

One thing I love about this bird is that the demeanor always seems angry / serious and hence are fun to shoot. Also, it flashes its full fan and quickly closes it up - something I am keen to get a shot of. Add to the challenge, its generally sticks to deep in the bush and hard to get out in the open!

A very beautiful resident wader that is quite active during summers and rainy season near water bodies and wet paddyfields. The bird is prized by the photographers due to its beautiful plumage. The one here is a male, but the female is even far more colorful and beautiful.

During the weekend we sighted 3 males and 2 females and the place we visited was a joy to shoot these birds with nice clear views and open fields.

Outside of its breeding season it is quite hard to spot. Also, the bird times its presence to align with the sowing reason and the post harvest season when the fields are wet and muddy both the times. The bird has a preference to the wet areas where we find them pretty much. We stumbled into them while walking on a water soaked muddy path (black soil) - I slipped - and then 2-3 snipes took off on a wide circle and landed in the distance.

A Himalayan bird that many find unremarkable due to the bland colors compared to rich variety of colorful birds found in that region. I found the rich blacks interesting and shot several pictures get that right. The bird is part of the thrush family and is often sighted foraging on the ground looking for insects and other invertebrates.

These birds prefer dense cover on the ground or the lower branches of trees. They were quite active and didn't seem to tolerate any aggression by the Magpies or Treepies which challenged most of the birds around them. The female has a total brown plumage and seemed more aggressive with the males. When the female is around, the males darted off to the trees.

📌 TELEPORT: Midori's Store ♥

A small and shy resident bird of the Indian subcontinent found around freshwater lakes and ponds with lots of wild reeds. The birds nest, forage and roost in the wild reeds and often are seen walking in them.

These are solitary birds and generally seen alone near reeds. This is a small bittern - the smallest of the 3 bitterns we get here (Cinnamon and Black being the other two). I love to shoot them in flight and they are slow fliers, so it is not hard. But finding them in flight that too with clean background like this - that is a huge challenge. I somehow seem to have a lot of luck with these yellow bitterns.

Shot them from a very quiet and peaceful road that has the paddy fields facing the sun and a lake on the other side in a lovley angle. There was a bit of activity, not as much as I wanted, but the highlight was this bittern that made a wide turn in front of me.
