57305 is at the rear of 5Z80, the 11:06 Reading Traincare Depot - Euston test ECS while TnT with 57603 Tintagel Castle on the front at Verney Junction.
The move was testing in preparation for the Christmas 2026 closure of Paddington which will see diversions of services via Oxford, Bicester, Bletchley, Milton Keynes to and from Euston
With Paddington due to be closed over Christmas 2026 for HS2 work at Old Oak Common, major diversions are scheduled to take place with services routed to/from Euston via Oxford and the new East West Rail link in order to gain access to the WCML
The latest test train in preparation for this sees 57603 Tintagel Castle TnT with 57305 hauling one of the GWR sleeper sets as 5Z80, the 11:06 Reading Traincare Depot - Euston ECS at Verney Junction
165012 forming 5F96, the 13:27 Bicester Town - Milton Keynes Central Training ECS passing the new Claydon East Junction
As HS2 progresses, this will become a railway crossroads. A loop has been added with headshunts at either end (roughly over the site of the old Claydon LNE junction loop) and in the far distance by the right hand signal under the bridge, the track can be seen curving away to the north which will eventually provide an access point onto HS2.
Although there is still uncertainty about rebuilding the link to Aylesbury, it appears the signalling has been put in to support it as the left hand signal under the bridge has junction feathers to the left for the line through to Calvert and Quainton Road, plus presumably HS2 as well
Displaying a rather optimistic Caerphilly destinantion blind, Dogbox 153311 forms 2Q30, the 11:55 Derby RTC - Derby RTC via the World test train at Steeple Claydon on the newly rebuilt East West Rail link from Bicester to Bletchley.
The site of the original level crossing here can be seen, now replaced by a new overbridge
