The Zamość Rotunda was built in the years 1825-31, as a defense system for Zamość.
During World War II, the Germans created a camp for arrested people here. Later, in 1942, this facility was also the site of numerous mass executions, which included the population of the Zamość region, including children, until 1943. It is estimated that about 8 thousand people were killed here.

Podczas II wojny światowej Niemcy stworzyli tu obóz dla ludności aresztowanej. Później, w roku 1942, obiekt ten stanowił także miejsce licznych, masowych egzekucji, jakie obejmowały do roku 1943 ludność Zamojszczyzny, w tym również dzieci. Szacuje się, że pozbawiono tu życia około 8 tysięcy ludzi.

Zamek św. Jerzego (Castelo de São Jorge), Lizbona, 10 kwietnia 2022 r.
Na wzgórzu górującym nad Lizboną już od czasów rzymskich znajdowały się fortyfikacje. W X w. powstała twierdza mauretańska, którą w 1147 r. odbił pierwszy król Portugalii Alfons I. Chrześcijańscy władcy rozbudowywali zamek, który stał się ich siedzibą. Pod koniec XIV w. ogłoszono św. Jerzego patronem twierdzy. Z powodu budowy nowej rezydencji nad Tagiem przez Manuela I oraz trzęsienia ziemi z 1531 r. zamek utracił swoje znaczenie. W czasie okupacji hiszpańskiej (1580-1640) na zamku urządzono koszary. Ostateczny upadek znaczenia zamku spowodowało trzęsienie ziemi w 1755 r. Dopiero na początku XX w. wzgórze stało się atrakcją turystyczną, przede wszystkim z powodu roztaczających się z niego widoków.

The hill rising over Lisbon has been fortified since the Roman times. In the 10th century a Moorish fortress was built which was conquered in 1147 by the first king of Portugal Afonso I. Christian rules extended the castle which became their residence. In the late 14th century St. George was declared the patron saint of the fortress. After construction of a new residence on the Tagus and the 1531 earthquake the castle lost its importance. During the Spanish occupation (1580-1640) it was used as barracks. The final downfall was caused by the 1755 earthquake. Only in the early 20th century the castle hill became a tourist attraction, mainly because of the spreading views.
