A man cycles past the Cair Fountain (Čairska česma) on Trg Kralja Milana, King Milan’s square, in Niš, Serbia. The fountain was built on this square in 1903, moved to Čairski Park (where it gets its name from) in 1935 to make space for a monument to the liberators of Niš, and was returned to the city centre in 2007.

A different day, weather-wise, to yesterday! I went into Ciren to drop off some more information for the solicitor (for selling Liz's house), then went to Melksham to meet up with one of my nieces and her husband and son, to sort through more stuff, and for them to take away some furniture. It was good to see them again. Then I had to pay a cheque in for Liz - from the electricity supplier, after the village had a power cut recently, which lasted for more than 12 hours. After a bit of lunch, I headed towards home, but had a brief stop off at this sunflower field, which was open for visitors. Then it was back to Ciren to meet up with the solicitor to talk through some of the questions raised by the buyers' solicitor. It is hoped that the sale will be completed by the end of the month.

I then went to Tesco to do the shopping. Back at home, I enjoyed a quiet 45 minutes in the garden, as I was feeling pretty tired - my cough is still bad from time to time. Then after tea, I had my usual evening walk before watching The West Wing.

A summer long gone

A summer evening sometime in the late 1970s. Probably taken while on way to the nearby lake for a fishing trip. Many childhood summers were spent here.

This summer house no longer exists, but remains in memory (and photos).

Balthasar had a great respect for the primacy of Peter, and the hierarchical structure of the Church. But he also knew that the Church is not only that, nor is that what is deepest in the Church.
