This is a random house in downtown Ithaca, NY.

Not sure what this flower is but was along the path in The Gathering Place park. I did a search and google says it is Pickerelweed but most of them are much deeper blues.

Kiss of Color

...getting up close and personal with the crown.

I figured that if I ever wanted a really tight picture of the crown I had to get it right away, before I started wearing the watch around, and it got not just the usual scuffs and scratches, but all that weird permalint and fingertip detritus which is always there in every crown's crannies if you look too closely.

This is at about 2:1, and required a whole bunch of bellows extension to get that magical Rodenstock HR Digaron in focus. Then there had to be focus stacking, because depth of field isn't plentiful under these circumstances (especially if you're keeping the lens near wide open, where it seems to perform best).

The Rideau river is running quickly these days; this spring's thaw started in earnest last week and it's pouring into the Ottawa River at the Rideau Falls faster than ever. Since this section of the Ottawa River is still frozen, the foam generated by the falls has nowhere to go and is piling up. I don't know if someone added soap to the river upstream.
