This creation combines gables with a mansard. There is a date stone above the door: "Joseph C. Del Grosso, circa-1981, 2524 Pine Ave."
The building's record in the Niagara County Property Record Online System says the building was completed in 1982. Based on my experience with some fishy records in this database, that could be true, or 1982 could be the year that the building last underwent a major remodel or expansion. For example, the record describes the building as two one-story buildings, each occupying an area of identical size. Maybe what actually happened in 1982 is an older building was given a new façade and a new second story?
Anyway, "Nineteen hundred eighty two, a gable roof with mansard. Paint its wooden shingles pink and all your prayers are answered."

This was a perfect amount of Parthenocissus tricuspidata for a big blank wall on a sunny June day. I cheerfully imagined that the idea behind the pink sidewalk was that it would lead the residents of Niagara Falls away from the painful experiences of rustbelt times.
According to Google Streetview imagery, the patio was soon to be enclosed for use by a new restaurant. If you love restaurants, I suppose you're happy to hear about that!

According to this obituary, Pine Ave. Hardware closed circa 2020, when its owner, Enzo Luciani, retired at the age of 91, having worked there for 72 years.
Every time I hear the name Luciani, I cannot help but recall a pop song from 1986, by the Fall, titled "Hey! Luciani," about Pope John Paul I, born Albino Luciani.

For some potential customers, the name of the restaurant might elicit unappetizing associations with the sounds and imagery of gagging — of reflexive contractions of pharyngeal muscles in wet throats; of half-chewed pieces of objectionable foods being spit into napkins by red-faced people with tears streaming down their faces. I trust that the restaurant's proprietors considered this possibility, and decided it wouldn't matter.
Ah yes a 2011 Ford E-250. "I have always had a huge uvular 'soft spot' for Ford vans," I wisecracked.
