Grayish pink is the color. There are triple gables and phony half-timbering.

It was built in the year 2000, per the local county government's property information database. I was skeptical, so I looked at historical satellite imagery on Google Earth Pro, and it checks out. It's from the year 2000.

In Niagara Falls, New York, an office building from 1929 is apartments and hotel rooms nowadays. by Tim Kiser

In Niagara Falls, New York, an office building from 1929 is apartments and hotel rooms nowadays.

"1929? We built it just in time!" the people of the 1930s commonly said, in reference to buildings like these. No I'm just kidding, I made that up.

"The brick sheathing is shaded so that the lower dark brown brick gradually lightens until it becomes a gray buff color on the upper floors," it says here. This is delightful to see.

"PAINT PINK THE WOODEN SHINGLES," I bellowed from across the street. This was in Niagara Falls, New York. by Tim Kiser

"PAINT PINK THE WOODEN SHINGLES," I bellowed from across the street. This was in Niagara Falls, New York.

This creation combines gables with a mansard. There is a date stone above the door: "Joseph C. Del Grosso, circa-1981, 2524 Pine Ave."

The building's record in the Niagara County Property Record Online System says the building was completed in 1982. Based on my experience with some fishy records in this database, that could be true, or 1982 could be the year that the building last underwent a major remodel or expansion. For example, the record describes the building as two one-story buildings, each occupying an area of identical size. Maybe what actually happened in 1982 is an older building was given a new façade and a new second story?

Anyway, "Nineteen hundred eighty two, a gable roof with mansard. Paint its wooden shingles pink and all your prayers are answered."

In Niagara Falls, New York, a building from 1947 and a Chrysler 200 from 2015 have arrived together.

A buff-colored commercial building from the 1940s and a white-colored sedan from the 2010s have found one another.

"1947 E. Dal Porto" reads the datestone at the top of the building. Chrysler 200s were manufactured in Sterling Heights, Michigan, for model years 2011-2017, and then discontinued.

A fine vine for a gray wall in Niagara Falls, New York. A sidewalk and patio of pink concrete. by Tim Kiser

A fine vine for a gray wall in Niagara Falls, New York. A sidewalk and patio of pink concrete.

This was a perfect amount of Parthenocissus tricuspidata for a big blank wall on a sunny June day. I cheerfully imagined that the idea behind the pink sidewalk was that it would lead the residents of Niagara Falls away from the painful experiences of rustbelt times.

According to Google Streetview imagery, the patio was soon to be enclosed for use by a new restaurant. If you love restaurants, I suppose you're happy to hear about that!

From 1919 come yellow brick quoins.

An archèd doorway is a flashy "lipstick mouth."

According to this obituary, Pine Ave. Hardware closed circa 2020, when its owner, Enzo Luciani, retired at the age of 91, having worked there for 72 years.

Every time I hear the name Luciani, I cannot help but recall a pop song from 1986, by the Fall, titled "Hey! Luciani," about Pope John Paul I, born Albino Luciani.
