On 17 January 2025, 150139 leaves Ridgmont on the 0945 Bletchley - Bedford.
The Bedford to Bletchley line has been associated with unusual and heritage traction for a number of years, being an unelectrified branch surrounded by electrified mainlines. Enthusiasts have enjoyed the novelty of top-and-tailed Fragonset Class 31s, ex-Network South East DMUs and in more recent times, Vivarail Class 230 units converted from ex London Underground D78 stock.
Network South East Class 121 "bubble cars" L129 (vehicle 55029) and L127 (vehicle 55027) approach Ridgmont with a Blethley-bound service,
After withdrawal, L129 was converted to a departmental unit for Eurailscout GB as a camera unit, numbered 977968. In 2010 it was preserved at the Rushden Transport Museum and is slowly being restored to a standard passenger-carrying unit.
L127 also joined the departmental fleet after withdrawal from passenger services, being renumbered 977975 and used by Network Rail as an emergency train for the Severn Tunnel. After withdrawal from this use, it was preserved initially at Barry Island Railway, and later at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Although restoration started, the major conversion work as an emergency tunnel vehicle has rendered the restoration financially unviable, with sale or disposal expected.
