It seems Mr Hoskins has deployed quite a lot of resource for his jolly to the South West this week, some of which returned to Crewe in the last afternoon of Good Friday, 18th April 2025. 57002, newly named ‘Winston Churchill’ today, heads 5029 ‘Nunney Castle’ and 57311 ‘The Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ along with support coach, seen passing Chorlton on the approach to Crewe.

West Coast Railways have revived 47848 since acquiring it from the Rail Operations Group in 2021, one of the four transferred over at that time, and somehow it has eluded me since then. Saturday 18th April saw it passing through Hartford on the West Coast Main Line as the power on day one of Pathfinder Railtours 'The Easter Highlander', running as 1Z24 0739 Cardiff Central to Falkirk Grahamston. 47746 'Chris Fudge 29.7.70 - 22.6.10' was tail end Charlie at this point. Two WCRC Class 37s were due to take over at the front from Preston onwards.
