Immeuble d'abord gothique (reste que les caves), il fut reconstruit à partir de 1617 dans un style de fin de la renaissance.
Bien sur cet hôtel de ville eu de nombreuses péripéties, c'est parti !
Il n'eu même pas le temps d'être terminé que les troupes suédoises pendant la guerre de 30 ans pillèrent les lieux. Ce n'est qu'en 1660 qu'il fut finalement terminé. Un peu plus de 100 ans plus tard, la commue de Malá Strana fut absorbé par Prague et son utilité prit fin. On lui donna de nouvelles fonctions fiscales cette fois-ci mais c'est surtout un rabotage qui la marqua dans ce début du XIXe siècle, les tours à bulbes furent rasées par Josef Kaura en accord avec la municipalité ainsi que de murer certaines arcades, faisant perdre tout l'originalité de l'ouvrage.
Après le déplumage (~1828), Malostranská beseda, un club patriotique occupe le bâtiment, ainsi qu'une brasserie pour le bonheur de tous. Une salle de concert fut même ajouté pour toujours plus de joyeuseté.
Mais une décision rare prise en 2004 mais finalisé qu'en 2009 après de long débats, recherches, calculs, etc. Pour redonner ses lettres de noblesse à ce bâtiment historique, on décida de reprendre les plans initiaux (ou ce qui s'en approchait) et de reconstruire les tours parties trop tôt comme vous pouvez l'apercevoir après cette lecture quelque peu rebondissante.
