A back section of Shelby Farms Park has numerous private garden areas where individuals grow anything from corn to tomatoes to squash and more. The Goldfinches were out in force eating sunflower seeds. This one seemed at ease on a sunflower plant, while I was only a few feet away.

The Calliope Hummingbird is a very small hummingbird and the smallest bird in North America.
This little guy was seen in southeastern Washington State in the town of Dixie.
A constant source of silly grins on my face, the male Rufus' always come to investigate what this large thing (me) is. I never get tired of getting buzzed by them.
Photographed in Dixie, WA at the home of Tom "The Hummingbird Man" Lamb. Tom was featured on 'Northwest Backroads' a few years back. It had been a goal of mine to meet him someday. Done!

Taken aboard the Island Explorer 3 on 4/2/2012 during a whale watching trip through Island Adventures.
One of two types of Yellow-rumped Warblers in the region, the Myrtle Warbler being the other. But for simplicity's sake, I just call it the "Butter-butt".
While walking the boardwalk at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge, I spotted this woman and her Jack Russell companion paddling by. I was amazed watching the little guy intently watching the water for whatever might come his way.
How cool...
This Red-tailed Hawk is a regular at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge near DuPont, WA. He seems tolerant of people and allows them to come fairly close before leaving. As you can see from the series of shots, he's quite a beauty!
