From the middle of June last year, when common terns (Sterna hirundo), as well as different seagulls, hunted shoals of fish by the beaches in our neighbourhood for days.
It was quite a show, and very fun to sit that close without them caring about me.

An Arctic tern (Sterna paradisaea) on Svalbard. They nested right by the road.
The Arctic tern has a circumpolar breeding distribution covering the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of Europe (as far south as Brittany in France), Asia, and North America (as far south as Massachusetts).
It is well known for its long-distance migration, traveling each year from one end of the world to the other and back.
Arctic terns are long-lived birds, with many reaching fifteen to thirty years of age.

Arctic terns (Sterna paradisaea) right outside or door at Tranøy lighthouse in Northern Norway this summer. I love staying in the middle of nature like this!

One of many common terns (Sterna hirundo) and different seagulls as well, that came very close while fishing on shoals of small fish by the beaches in our neighbourhood in June.
They went on for several days, and the job of deleting photos is big. But it's nice to find photos of them in so many fun poses, both with and without fish ツ
