She was the first Class 56 built at Doncaster, numbered 56 031. She entered service at Toton on May 24th 1977.
After withdrawal, she became the first Class 69 conversion from a Class 56, entering service on February 9th 2021, allocated to Peterborough.

6E86 Middleton Towers - Monks Bretton sand, slowing for the signal stop before the path round the Ely Curve and away towards Peterborough. In the background, on the Ouse, you can just see the Cambridge Boat Race crew training, looking rather cold as they passed me. This year Oxford have successfully removed teacher training students from the Cambridge crew, on the basis that they aren't on a degree course. Despite Oxford having regularly used such students in the past, and the Oxford website saying the course has MA status equivalent. A masterpiece of publicity, and probably the best way of motivating the remaining Cambridge crews....
