While rare in the wild, Northern hawk owls offer a captivating glimpse into the natural world with their unique seasonal behaviors. Spotting one perched on a spruce tree is a thrilling experience for birdwatchers, especially during late winter or early spring when these magnificent birds actively seek nesting sites, mates, and prey. Their remarkable tolerance of humans allows for surprisingly close encounters, making them even more intriguing. However, during the breeding season, their protective instincts kick in, and they can become fiercely aggressive, employing dramatic dive-bombing techniques to defend their young. With their razor-sharp talons poised for action, these majestic owls remind us of the wonders of wildlife and the beauty of nature’s delicate balance.

The State of Pennsylvania Monument is the largest monument on the Gettysburg battlefield. The tip of the sword of the statue of Winged Victory is 110 feet high. A spiral staircase takes visitors to the roof of the monument, which offers a panoramic view of the battlefield.
The monument is made from North Carolina granite set over an iron and concrete frame. Rising over all Sculptor Samuel Murray created a 7,500 pound statue of Winged Victory from melted down Civil War cannons which stands on top of the dome. He also created the reliefs over each of the arches.
The second Krampus Photoshoot At Whitby Abbey in 2024 was on Thursday 17 Oct. The plan was to take some promotional shots in the Abbey grounds as part of the build up to the 10th anniversary of the Whitby Krampus Run, and also to incorporate the Abbey into the forthcoming events. The idea was to take photos and video based around a theme and to craft the beginnings of a tale of good (the peasant girl protected by St Hild) versus evil (the Krampus demons). We had originally hoped for a misty or overcast day to enhance the sinister aspect and the feelings of foreboding, but it was a gloriously sunny Autumn day and so we had to work with that!
