This photo depicts a room with a large hole in the floor, surrounded by debris and rubble. The room appears to be in a state of disrepair, with a broken window and a damaged door. The debris includes a pile of wood and a chair, which is situated in the middle of the room.
In addition to the debris, there is a TV mounted on the wall, and a dining table can be seen in the room. The overall scene suggests a neglected or abandoned space, possibly in need of renovation or demolition.
L&N 1850, I mean CSX 1850, is seen as a sole unit amidst the Corbin yard this afternoon, having being dropped from E979's power due to engine failure. The L&N paint scheme is right at home here, and minus the array of CSX logos and the lack of trains in the yard, this would have very well been a shot visible in the 60's.
For the first time since the paint scheme phased out, the L&N paint scheme entered the Cumberland Valley Subdivision once more. CSX 1850 has rolled into Corbin on E979 bound for Lynch just like the old days, however after having some engine troubles, will be dropped in the yard for pick up by the following days M541 heading towards Waycross for repairs. Nonetheless, the 1850 had a good 2-minute stay on the CV. Maybe one day..
CSX 1850 rolls back beneath the old High-Line back into the Corbin yard whilst turning on the wye. The unit had been on a train bound for Lynch 3, however engine issues has left the unit to be dropped in the yard. Nonetheless, it visited the CV for a whopping 2 minutes. Even so, it is still in L&N territory.
In the Revolutionary War, Minute-Men were just that; volunteers that, upon receiving the call, were said to be ready at a minutes notice to get out and fight. In a way, the fuel truck serves a similar purpose, being ready to roll on short notice, to be trackside awaiting its targeted train. S853 has just rolled into Corbin with a trio of UP units for power. These military loads are bound for Fort Estill, and are an infrequent visitor to the CC/KD. A neat catch, that's for sure.
