The Fiat 128 Series I was introduced in 1969. It was face-lifted in 1972 and 1976, when the round headlights were replaced by rectangular ones.
The 128 Berlina was the first front wheel drive Fiat passenger car ever.
The Fiat 128 series was developed by Dante Giacosa (Roma, 1905-1996) and Aurelio Lampredi (Livorno, 1917-1989, technical part).
Paolo Boano (1930) designed a 3-door coupe version at Centro Stile Fiat. This coupe was introduced in 1971.
The Fiat 128 series was replaced by the 1978-1988 Fiat Ritmo.
