Blois (Loir-et-Cher).

Animalinas series
Scientific reports show that 25% of our plant and animal species on earth are threatened with extinction.
Urbanization, industrialization and intensive agriculture are the main causes of this loss.
With the Animalinas series, the artist wants to show the animal species with the signal: Look, we're still here, but we're struggling.
The works are spread over a route of 100 km, are sometimes very deep and difficult to find in nature and there is no fixed start and end point.

Another photo of that hedgehog I saw in broad daylight in my garden. It was walking around, sniffing here and there under leaves, looking for food. They are insect eaters and quite useful to have in your garden. It seems it's a good idea not to clear away all dead leaves and twigs, but to leave some in your garden as a possible place for them to sleep.
It looked so cute, this hedgehog in my garden, but you wouldn't want to stroke its prickly back! The next photo in my stream shows its spines more clearly, but I'm hoping this photo will make you 'smile on Saturday'.
Hedgehogs have become quite rare now, as I've explained under yet another photo of the same hedgehog in my stream. Not just over here in Flanders, but in the whole of western Europe, it seems. Let's take care of them!
I saw a hedgehog in my garden on the same afternoon that I spotted the Pale tussock caterpillar of the previous photo! And now it seems that hedgehogs are threatened with extinction, not only because of cars, but robotic lawnmowers too. They don't recognise hedgehogs as something that shouldn't be mowed.
So, I'm happy that we don't have a robot mower, and that we do have various hedges, an ideal habitat for hedgehogs!
