A privately owned Historic Police vehicle that is occasionally brought out to public events for display.
This vehicle is a former NSW Police Rescue vehicle from the late 1970's. The vehicle was on hand at Granville Police Station with other historic NSW Ambulance and NSW Fire Brigade vehicles as part of the annual service to commemorate the worst rail disaster in Australian history and the worst accident for loss of life in Australia in the post WWII period, The Granville Train disaster that occurred on the 18th January 1977 and resulted in the loss of 84 lives (revised about ten years ago from 83 to reflect that one of the victims was pregnant at the time).
The anniversary day is known as the day of the roses and the services end with 84 roses being dropped onto the railway line from the new Bold Street bridge above the disaster site.
To all of the emergency workers who attended this incident, some of whom I have met and known personally.
Thank you for your service.
