At Christmas, a very dear friend of mine, who enjoys photography as much as I do, and knows that I like interesting and delicate bits and pieces gave me some beautiful laser cut paper shapes as a gift.
She also knows that collect beautiful and vintage haberdashery pieces, and last Christmas gave me a wonderful selection of antique ribbons, buttons, buckles, lace and other fine notions in beautiful tins.
Amongst the gifts were some Estonian and Latvian hand dyed lace blooms and butterflies.
I have placed some of the laser cut paper and floral lace pieces together on a black background to give the impression of traditional Eastern European folk art with a twist, which I also think highlights the delicate nature of the laser cut paper which reminds me of wycinanki (Polish paper cutting) and the beauty and bright colours of the lace from Estonia and Latvia. I thought these made a nice image to share with you, especially if it is a cold, grey and wintery day where you are!
