Le Grand Combin, situé dans le canton du Valais, est un sommet des Alpes suisses culminant à 4 314 mètres, entre le val de Bagnes et le val d'Entremont. Il constitue le plus haut sommet situé entre le mont Blanc (4 810 m) et la Dent Blanche (4 357 m) et le deuxième plus haut sommet de Suisse romande. Il s'agit d'un vaste massif glaciaire, dans son versant Nord, où descend le glacier de Corbassière. Ses similitudes avec certains passages historiques du mont Blanc lui ont fait emprunter les dénominations (Le Corridor, le Mur de la Côte).

With its 4,314 metres (14,154 ft) high summit it is one of the highest peaks in the Alps[2] and the second most prominent of its range. The Grand Combin is also a large glaciated massif consisting of several summits, among which three are above 4000 metres.
The normal route starts from the Panossière Hut, which lies on the north side in the Corbassière valley. Despite the fact that no major difficulties exist, a particularly dangerous passage has to be traversed on the north flank: Le Corridor. It is a couloir dominated by seracs continuously falling on it.]

In this picture You can see the two lakes of Triebtenseewis (2365m) and Grimselsee(1940m), the summit of the Finsteraarhorn(4274m) covered with clouds. On the left side, the glacier of Oberaar ,and on the right side the Glacier of Unteraar.

" Sympathique cabane, propriété de la section des Diablerets (CAS), située à 2886m en bordure du glacier du Mountet. Du refuge la vue sur l'Ober Gabelhorn est magnifique.
A noter la présence de couettes!
Précisions local d'hiver
Cabane TRES bien équipée.
Vaisselle abondantes et fonctionnelles (dont un kit fondue).
Cuisinière à bois qui chauffe vite. Pensez à bien ouvrir le tirage au niveau du tuyaux d'évacuation (manette noire).
Accès estival
Se garer au niveau du pont à la sortie de Zinal.
De là, traverser le pont et suivre la piste en rive gauche de la Navisence sur plus de 3km. Peu après le Vichiesso, la piste redescend dans le fond du vallon au point 1908m. Traverser le pont et suivre le chemin qui part à droite et monte sur la moraine en rive droite du glacier de Zinal. A un moment le sentier quitte la moraine pour monter raide et passer au dessus des barres rocheuses d'où il traverse globalement à flanc pour contourner les versants W puis S du Besso. Nombreuses marques rouges sur la fin où le sentier se perd un peu dans un amas de gros blocs. (4h30 depuis Zinal)
Remarque: il existe une variante passant par la cabane du Petit Mountet et traversant à flanc par le Plan des Lettres (rive gauche du glacier) pour finalement traverser le glacier de Zinal (5h30). Cette variante est scabreuse suite à des éboulements (se renseigner auprès du gardien)."

"From Zinal we follow a path alongside the Nabisence river to the chalets at Le Vichiesso. Climbing high above the right bank of the Glacier de Zinal we follow a narrow mountain path to the climbers refuge of Grand Mountet (2886m). There is no access to the refuge for vehicles so we will need to pack our rucksacks very carefully, carrying only basic essentials for the one night we spend here. The refuge is situated in a splendid location in a huge glacial amphitheatre surrounded by the Zinal" (Great walk of the world).
The Zinal Glacier (French: Glacier de Zinal) is a 7 km long glacier (2005) situated in the Pennine Alps in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. In 1973 it had an area of 15.4 km². The glacier gives birth to the Navissence river, which runs through a cave.
