Skarhult Castle Reflection

The present castle was constructed in the 1560s in the then Danish province of Scania by Danish riksråd Sten Rosensparre, though certain parts of the castle are presumed to be older. In 1658, Scania became a Swedish province, and in 1661, it was bought by the Swedish count Pontus Fredrik De la Gardie and his rich wife Beata Elisabet von Königsmarck.

Skabersjö Castle/Mansion 2025

Very little has happened to the buildings since they were drawn by Ferdinand Richardt in 1853 - see next photo in the photostream.
The castle/mansion is surrounded by a moat and earlier a drawbridge (now a bridge).
In the 1300s, Skabersjö belonged to the Ulfstand family. The old main building with towers and embankments was burnt down in 1523 during battles between the inhabitants of Malmö city and the Scanian nobility who had their headquarters at Skabersjö. The castle was rebuilt by Holger Ulfstand and was still fortified. The current Skabersjö is mainly from the 1700s. County Governor Tage Thott carried out a thorough reconstruction in 1775-1782.

Krapperup Castle/Mansion

The original castle building was constructed between 1314 and 1353. The builder was the Dane Johannes Jonaesson. A rectangular stone house, containing the mayor's residence and banquet hall, was the main building. Around this stone house, farm buildings of various kinds were erected.
Around the middle of the 14th century, the castle began to be fortified with a ring wall, gate tower, moat and drawbridge. New farm buildings of stone, brick and timber were built inside the ring wall.
In the middle of the 16th century, the large rectangular brick main house was built in Renaissance style.

One part of the building "World of Volvo" is a museum - the Volvo history of cars, trucks and buses since the very first Volvo left the factory in Gothenburg in 1927. Another part is a big exhibition about the present and the future, with funny activities in connection with Volvo, to do for the whole family. There is also a restaurant and a café. Built: 2024.
