The intermodal train of PIMK Rail from Bozurishte to Burgas seen near Voluyak station and led by the Ludmilla diesel 07 086. A few moments later in the station the Ludmilla was replaced by Siemens Smartron locomotive 80 004.

46 002 of BDZ Cargo is passing through Dolno Ezerovo station with freight train from Pirdop. A nice meeting with 07 663 of DB Cargo performed. Untill a few years ago it was a very unusual sight for Ludmilla to appear at this station, but in the past two-three years the trains from the branch line to Debelt are hauled by DB Cargo and sometimes by Port Rail which are using class 06 diesels for them.

46.03 - the steam monster of BDZ is under steam again! Granny Bear (Baba Metsa in Bulgarian) has been recently awaken from a long winter sleep and is under steam again after more than 5 years of standstill due to delayed overhaul of the boiler tubes. Last weekend the locomotive served two Christmas trains from Sofia to two different destinations - Pernik and Bankya. Last year the same Christmas trains were hauled by the Swiss loco 01.23, but now the Granny Bear take them. On the photo the locomotive is departing the train from Pernik station on 14 December 2024. On the next day was the trip to Bankya.

Two eastbound freight trains with class 661 diesel locomotive at Pirot station, Eastern Serbia. A moments before this shot a westbound freight train passed through the station. The station got very busy in the past year, because of the renovation of the railway line Niš - Dimitrovgrad. The line will be also electrified in the near future.
More diesel action around Pirot is available in the video:

Locomotive delivery for BDZ-PP! Diesel loco 55 123 of Express Service is delivering two battery powered shunting locomotives type ES 3000 for BDZ-PP. They will be used for internal shuntings in Nadezhda wagon depot. The locomotives are made in Bulgaria in Express Service workshop near Ruse. Photo has been taken on 29 October 2024 near Voluyak station in Sofia.

44 114 of BDZ-PP with IC 8650 at the renovated station in Chirpan. A few weeks ago the composition of this train was also renewed with imported second-hand wagons from Deutsche Bahn. However, due to the fact that the electric system of the wagons is designed for 1000V, currently only Skoda locomotives can operate with them. After redesigning of the electric system for 1500V, the wagons will be able to be pulled also by the new Smartron locomotives of BDZ. So it is a bit silly situation - Skoda's have been returned on the long distance IC trains and many Smartrons were send to regional or short distance trains.
Electric locomotive 85 632 on its debut freight train for Express Service Bulgaria, with route Iliyantsi (Sofia) - Devnya. It was seen at Iliyantsi station on May 14, 2024. Express Service started its business in Bulgaria as a locomotive workshop for construction of small battery powered locomotives and maintenance works for any types of locomotives. A few years ago they were registered also as a railway operator. Initially they hauled trains very rarely, mostly own trains for transportation of the brand new small locomotives to client's locations and the trains were hauled by class 55 diesel locomotives (LDH 125, built by FAUR Bucuresti, Romania). Last year they acquired several electric locomotives class 86 from Freightliner (England) which already are familiar here, because another railway operator - Bulmarket has exploited for almost 10 years. The locomotives were overhauled in the workshop near Ruse and two days ago the first one - 85 632 served its first regular pair of trains.

The private Bulgarian railway operator TBD-TP is continuing slowly to increase its locomotive fleet. With the revival of the former BDZ electric locomotive 46 006, they have already 8 electric locomotives, three of which are class 46 (LE 5100). TBD bought the loco from BDZ after it was abandoned from the state operator for more than 20 years. Since the end of 2023 46 006 is again in regular use after a major overhaul in Romania. On the photo the loco is hauling a regular train with empty coal cars towards Aldomirovtsi station.
