In granite, the year 1990 and the name of César Pelli are combined with the names of a development firm and a building contractor.

It says, "1990: Miglin-Beitler, developer; Cesar Pelli & Associates, design architect; Schal Associates, contractor."

The Miglin in Miglin-Beitler is Lee Miglin, who was murdered by Andrew Cunanan in 1997. I gasped when I realized that.

Visit a vacant city block, cleared of its old buildings for a redevelopment idea that was never implemented, now covered in swarms of beautiful plantlife. by Tim Kiser

Visit a vacant city block, cleared of its old buildings for a redevelopment idea that was never implemented, now covered in swarms of beautiful plantlife.

A beautiful office building from 1990 looks out over a shrubland. Plants engage in swarming behavior just like us animals do.

Verily this is a city block in New London, Connecticut, bounded by Chelsea Street, East Street, Walbach Street, and Goshen Street, that was formerly covered in buildings: See this side-by-side comparison of 1991 and 2021 aerial imagery. The proposed redevelopment, and the land seizures upon which it depended, were the focus of a 2005 U.S. Supreme Court decision, Kelo v. City of New London, which held that it was okay for the government of New London to seize the property of one private landowner and hand it over to a wealthier private landowner, for the purpose of increasing the city's tax revenue. So the city government won the case, but then the redevelopment they wanted so badly never even happened!

But anyhow I do enjoy the beauty of green plants.

An architectural "Tampa Delight" of sarcastic delight, at a government office building from 1991.

Verily it was built from 1988 to 1991 as "Two Mack Center," named by developer William Mack in honor of himself, and was conveniently bought by the government of Hillsborough County in 1992, after William Mack could not find any tenants for the new building. A "beauty of '95" — 1995, that is.

I had been out walking around looking for buildings from the mid-1990s and here was one. I wished for these crape myrtles to be removed so I could see the building better.

A polychrome mid-1990s wall sculpture in 10+ bright colors would be ideal for that windowless expanse on the upper floors.
