Heading just beyond Earlestown station, GB Railfreight loco 60021 'Penyghent' heads towards Liverpool having travelled from the Settle and Carlisle line via Golborne and Lowton Junctions. It travels westbound, hauling the 6F69 loaded aggregates train from Ribblehead Virtual Quarry to Tuebrook Sidings.

GBRf 60021 gets away from Ribblehead and is seen approaching the bridge at Salt Lake Cottages, the mass of Whernside features as the backdrop.

Currently a regular Friday runner, 6F69 Ribblehead Virtual Quarry to Tuebrook Sidings loaded stone, is captured approaching Lowton Junction after being held for its customary pathing stop at the gantry guarding Golborne Junction.
* This working is held in theory for 20 mins but in reality it can be double that time, coinciding with 6 Friday passenger (many running late) movements.
** Pole @ 7m.
A short notice substitution saw GBRf 69010 work 6F64 for possibly the first time this afternoon.
I was lucky enough to capture it here at Ashton Road propelling down what is now the Heidelberg Branch.

With the 'dearth of exotic traction' in the North West currently, 6F69 when it runs is one we go for.
Here in lovely late afternoon light 'Tug' 60021 'Penyghent' gets a grip of its 2200 ton consist moving off from a 20 minute pathing stop at Golborne Junction.
