According to the topographical map, I'm at a dizzying 100 feet above the surrounding grade. Boy, was I glad to get down and breath again.
I guess I'll have to do Mount Everest next. Do they have a bathroom at the top?
😉
Johnson's Mound Forest Preserve is a heavily wooded, classic example of a stratified gravel hill, known as a "kame". The kame was deposited by glacial ice and water some 10,000 years ago.

I was studying this garden and noticed that he's planted it heavily with bluebells. But the tulips are the main attraction. Then, I remembered Richard Harvey UK's recent shots of bluebells. Thanks!!!

Almost all the blooms on this rosebush have faded now, but just last week the branches were so loaded with blooms they were weighed down by the sheer number of them.
This climbing rosebush has put on quite a show this spring. Now to rest up a bit for the next round of blooms. We're already looking forward to see what comes next, and when!
The hallmark of spring is the abundance of new life, new growth, beautiful vibrant colours and the fresh scents that spring brings, the gala apple trees are no exception, festooned with pink buds opening into delicate white flowers with yellow centres, supported with short spikey green leaves, the tree and branches characterfully twisty and gnarly, flowering throughout spring, the tree will be laden with gala apples in September as we approach Autumn.
As winter slowly relents the early hints of spring in the woodland begin to appear, leaves on trees start to regrow and the foliage on the forest floor becomes thicker and lusher, soon the woodland will be an abundance of new life and the cycle continues. The woodland is so often a chaotic place, often crowded, dense and overgrown, but that's nature in all it's natural beauty, enjoy it as it is and photograph it.
