GB Railfreight Class 60, 60021 "Penyghent" heads through Northwich with 6Z26 1525 Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station.
The 60s are once again become loco non grata on the Liverpool to Drax biomass flows and this move saw the end of 60021's latest stint on Merseyside.
No doubt they'll be back again in a few months when RHTT season stretches the 66 fleet and Drax realises there's nothing quite like a 60 for hauling big tonnages over the hills.
GB Railfreight Class 73/9s, 73962 "Dick Mabbutt" and 73965 "Des O'Brien" - on hire to Network Rail and operated by Colas Rail Freight - work 1Q18 1852 Crewe to Derby RTC through Greenbank.
73962 was on the front for this leg of the Infrastructure Monitoring circular tour of the Northwest, including the Merseyrail network earlier in the night.
It would appear the station lighting at Greenbank is only lit on the Down side at this time in the morning, making it somewhat challenging to capture an image of a working on the Up!

Ex-LMS/BR 5MT 4-6-0 44735 at Brunswick Goods sidings on a misty day in May 1965, during the RCTS 'Cheshire Lines Centenarian' railtour..
The loco had entered service in 1949, and was withdrawn at the end of BR steam, in August 1968, and scrapped in November. Eighteen of the class have been preserved, but not all of these have been restored..
Today (2024) this has all gone, and the site is partly occupied by a gym and a car dealership..
Restored and cropped/enlarged from an under-exposed portrait-mode original..

Trans Pennine Express 68025 'Superb' emerges from under Dam Head Lane bridge with 1B85 Cleethorpes - Liverpool.
Even though the 68's are diagrammed to work the former Cheshire Lines route route, for one reason or another it is rare they do and especially facing Liverpool. Doug Birmingham was good enough to let me know 68025 was working 1B85 and the weather was improving so I made the move to Glazebrook and was rewarded with a pleasing image.
*Just beyond Dam Head Lane bridge in the background was the Junction for the former Great Central route via Culcheth and Lowton St Marys to Wigan Central.
Despite only recently being out-shopped by DB Cargo in its "Celebrating The King's Coronation" special livery, the King's Shed, Class 66, 66023 was already having to lower itself to menial binliner duties.
The Royal Blue locomotive was working 6E16 1849 Knowsley Freight Terminal to Wilton EFW through Lostock Gralam, as the sun set on the longest day of the year.
