Lots of different heritage in one frame. From IC, CN and even to NS. The most eye catching being CN's brand new acquisition, Iowa Northern.

One of the last IC SD40s operating in the Midwest leads the "Recycle Job" AKA R967 back toward home base, that being Glenn Yard. Here it is passing 18th street with the city skyline in the background shortly before midnight. Just a day later 6250 got sent back to Kirk, this would be the only time this pair would be sent out on this train.
When I found out that a rare GP40R was on the Waukesha sub local, I knew I had to find a day to get out and go after it. Sure enough, I had time and the chase was on!
Here, IC 3115 is switching at US Global Petroleum in Franklin Park, IL, along the southern portion of the Waukesha Sub. It would not be long before they called RTC Homewood for a light north back to Schiller Park

FInally, IC 3115 leads L501 across the diamonds at Rondout after waiting for Metra 2113 and Amtrak 1333 to go by! Thus, my chase is complete!
Something to keep in mind on election day

It had been quite a while since I had been able to spend a full day shooting trains across the area, but I finally got a full day off to do so, and I took full advantage across not only Illinois, Indiana, but also for the first time in my life, Michigan!
Our third stop brought us to Griffith, IN to shoot IC Deathstars in the area, but I only came out with 1 (Sorry Dan). CN L53691-30, the Glenn to Kirk local, crosses Lake St in Griffith with IC 1005 and 1036 leading together, plus a BNSF T4 3rd out.
Created in DALL-E 3.
