Such a lovely day today, and the absolute best antidote to the week just gone. I cut Tim's hair for him in the morning (and did a good job of it, if I may say so), using the new hairdressing cape I'd bought him for Christmas, which worked brilliantly. Then I got myself all set up to sit in the summer house and do the Big Garden Bird Watch (made a cup of tea, filled the feeders, put on lots of warm layers, got my notebook and pen, and settled in for a lovely mindful hour). It was madness at times though - I really couldn't count all the sparrows! I clocked up 35 birds in total - definitely a big new record for me. Jackdaws, robins, sparrows (I estimated 10, but reckon there were more), dunnocks, collared doves, blackbirds, coal tits, a magpie and a blue tit. None of them seemed at all bothered by my presence and my camera clicking!
After lunch, Tim and I had the most beautiful sunny walk down to the harbour. We realised neither of us had seen the boats in the car park, since they were lifted there (ages ago) for the winter, so a harbour walk was long overdue. And it made me so happy. We walked back via Capstone Parade and went for a coffee at the Landmark, before slogging back up the hill to home.
Finished (re-)watching the last couple of episodes of Detectorists in the evening. What a beautiful programme it is; I'm going to miss it.
