Happy 70th birthday to my dad today!

Small orchids like these always remind me of him, since he always noticed and commented them when we were on hikes when we were young.

We had his big celebration last weekend, but this weekend he and mom come to visit us, and we will have some good food on a fish restaurant, and take a little walk on the beach in the evening sun.

This orchid was one of many beautiful heath spotted-orchids (Dactylorhiza maculata ssp. maculata), by the bogs on our island last spring.

we need adventures

Any adventure is more enjoyable in sunny weather!

A squirrel from the archive, from one of my many visits to a squirrel feeding ground.

I've seen at least 7 of them when I've been there, but they can be many more.

The Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is the only type of squirrel in Norway, and I think it must be the most adorable of all squirrel species.

Before I started photographing birds and people more, I was more into photographing wildflowers and insects.

I have so much from that time that I have never posted or looked at before. But a lot of it can be interesting to share, both to learn more myself, and for others who want to know more about our beautiful wildflowers.

I photographed these beauitful red Alpine catchflies (Silene suecica/ Viscaria alpina) ten years ago already, on a backpacking trip in the mountains by the famous Trolltunga rock formation.

From late May, lots of numerous little wildflower species start to bloom by the marshes and moorland on the island where I live.

It's pretty interesting when you start looking down, and discover more and more species growing by your feet.

This common lousewort (Pedicularis sylvatica) is one of the species with hundreds of plants growing close to a hiking trail close to the ocean.

Wood cranesbills (Geranium sylvaticum) in the hills by our favourite campsite in Norway- Olden Camping.

I have photographed squirrels in most conditions through the seasons, but getting them in the snow has only been a year-long dream, until today ツ

It was lovely to visit all the squirrels and birds on their feeding ground in the lovely winter dressed forest today.
