This person parked in the fire lane was a special kind of idiot. He first pulled up nose to nose with a car exiting the gas station and would not yield. As the driver then reversed to get out of the way, this twit kept pulling forward, preventing the other driver from just shifting to D and leaving. At this time there were 12 actual parking spaces available.
This one does not qualify because there are not very many brick streets remaining in contemporary Elkhart. But the spatial proportions of parking and powerlines and buildings are suitable.
Do you want that Suzuki SX4? There in the parking lot in the shade?

Random Thought: Fall is leaving and winter is soon upon us. Transitions. So many transitions going on in my life right now, Embarking on a new professional career and loving the learning and the challenges. A view from the second floor of my work life.
I have to remember to post pictures that I take with my cell phone.
On the evening of Sunday, January 22, 2017, I captured this striking sunset view as seen from the balcony of our condo (unit 2010 in the 360 Condominiums building). This view faces north; you can see how the landscape has changed over the years if you compare this pic against a 2008 photo taken from our balcony when we first moved into the building.
By leaning over the edge of our balcony railing, I was able to capture the dome of the Texas State Capitol building at the far right of the frame. Toward the left, you can see the Seven Apartments tower, while the IBC Bank Plaza dominates the right side of the frame. (A partial corner view of the Austin Federal Courthouse is visible toward the lower right.) The patio along the bottom of the frame is our building's ''Capitol View Terrace,'' which is accessible only to residents who live on the 17th floor. Finally, near the center of the frame, the white residential tower is the new Aspen Heights apartment building, which has sadly blocked our view of the University of Texas Tower. (If you look very closely, you can just make out the top of the tower peeking out above the left corner of the building.)
Today my mind was working overtime thinking about a barrage of different things going on in just about every aspect of my life. As I was walking to go talk to a client I saw this and realized no matter what is going on take a second and notice the beauty and the awesome work of GOD that is right in front of you. God's got me I know this and I am feeling it more and more. Thankful he gave me this reminder. {Random Thought 12.9.16}
During our day in port at Marseille, France, Mike and I set off on foot to take in some of the local sights. Among the highlights was a visit to Notre-Dame de la Garde (Our Lady of La Garde), a Catholic basilica built on the foundations of an ancient fort high atop La Garde hill.
After exploring the site's terraces, museum, and crypt, we made our way into the basilica itself. This photo offers a closer view of the choir and high altar in the basilica's apse.
The white marble altar was created by Henri Révoil and Jules Cantini between 1882-1886. The silver sculpture that serves as the altarpiece is known as the Statue of Chanuel. It was created by a metalsmith named Jean-Baptiste Chanuel after a model made by the sculptor Jean-Pierre Cortot, and replaces an earlier sculpture that was melted down during the French Revolution. You can also see two of the basilica's stunning mosaics -- the Cul-de-Four mosaic in the altar niche and the Annunciation mosaic above it.
