Alderney, Channel Islands

The Parish Church of St. Anne has the honor of holding the world record in bellringing. The Parish church was built (1850) by John Le Mesurier, son of the last hereditary governor of Alderney. On Sunday, June 23rd, 1940, the bells rang to the Alderney people to leave the island prior to its occupation nine days later. More history of the church, its bells, and the actual record can be found at alderneybells.com
