The Parish Church of St. Anne has the honor of holding the world record in bellringing. The Parish church was built (1850) by John Le Mesurier, son of the last hereditary governor of Alderney. On Sunday, June 23rd, 1940, the bells rang to the Alderney people to leave the island prior to its occupation nine days later. Hattie Jacques and John Le Mesurier, two British actor/comedians, lived here in the 1960s with their family. Jacques was perhaps most well known for the Carry On films, and Le Mesurier for Dad's Army.
Albion Lodge, Margate. Has a blue heritage plaque recording the fact that the two comic actors, Hattie Jacques and John LeMesurier, lived here in the 1960s.
