Very recently I posted a picture from the very beautiful line Lipusz - Bytów, where I mentioned a coal train running every 2-3 months. At the time, little did I know that something much bigger was to come on the very same line. It seems that almost every time that I mention the stretch of track between Lipusz and Bytów, I give a short breakdown of traffic there. Bytów - coal every couple of months, Osława - cement, every two weeks, and... Ugoszcz - fuel, every 4 years.
Very casually, a couple of us were contacted by Maciej , who told us that "the first train to Ugoszcz is planned for next Saturday". I almost couldn't believe that! The first tanker train on this line in 4 years! The train was to take the very scenic and rarely used route on the old coal mainline from Gdynia via Gdańsk Osowa, Somonino, Kościerzyna, and then on the line no. 211 towards Lipusz, where the tanker wagons would later be taken by SKPL towards Ugoszcz (which we sadly didn't witness).
Here the tanker train TMS 554012 from Gdynia Port GT 1-33 to Lipusz(Ugoszcz) is seen on the last few kilometers of its journey, before arriving at Lipusz. The train was headed by Qemetica Cargo's BR232-502 and driven by none other than the legendary Maciej himself. All that in beautiful winter scenery of the Bory Tucholskie (Tuchola Forest area), one of the largest forest complexes of Poland.
