17.05: 404 615-0 (cab side No. 31B) arriving at Stazione di Venezia Mestre before crossing the causeway to terminate at Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia.
In 2007, these 3rd generation E.404s were still in their ETR-500 Eurostar livery.
In 2012, they were changed to the current red Frecciarossa (Red Arrow) livery.
They run Top and Tail on the carriage sets where they get their cab numbers from. Since the locos can be swapped out for attention, the cab number is no guarantee you have the loco number.
For that you need the UIC found near the join between the loco and the 1st carriage (“93 83 7404 xxx-x I-TI”).
All 3 generations of 404s were built by the TREVI Consortium (Ansaldo, Breda, Fiat Railway, ABB Tecnomasio and Firema Transport).
These 3rd generation locos (E.404-600s) were built between 2004 and 2007.
PS: I have never found a database website listing any of the 2nd and 3rd generation E.404s individual locos’ build information (dates & Works Numbers).
If anyone knows of one with any of this info, please comment 🙏 🙏
