ROSIE: “Oh hurry!” *Huffs and puffs.* “We must hurry!”
PADDY: *Looks perplexed as Rosie hurries past partially wrapped up in a bandage with it trailing behind her.*
SCOUT: “I’m hurrying!” *Huffs and puffs.*
PADDY: *Looks even more perplexed as Scout runs along at the other end of the bandage with it partially wrapped around him.* “Wait a minute Rosie and Scout!”
SCOUT: *Stops.* “Hullo Paddy!”
ROSIE: *Stops.* “Hullo Paddy. We’d love to stop and chat, but we must hurry!”
PADDY: “But that is what I wanted to ask you, Rosie and Scout. Where are you going in such a hurry with that bandage?”
SCOUT: “Oh Paddy! It’s mijn beste vriend Peter!”
ROSIE: “Who is also mijn prins Peter!”
PADDY: “What about Peter, Scout and Rosie? Why does he need a bandage?” *Concerned.*
SCOUT: “Well, you know how mijn allerbeste vriend Peter has been making a special surprise present in Jan’s mancave for my upcoming birthday?”
PADDY: “Yes, Scout.”
ROSIE: “Well, whilst he was doing so, mijn prins Peter was attacked by a monster!”
PADDY: “A monster?” *Alarmed.*
ROSIE: “Yes Paddy!” *Nods seriously.*
SCOUT: “And it squashed mijn allerbeste vriend Peter’s paw! Now it is all swollen!” *Nods even more seriously.*
PADDY: “Oh that wasn’t a monster, Scout and Rosie!”
SCOUT and ROSIE: “Yes it was, Paddy!”
PADDY: “No it wasn’t, Scout and Rosie. It was a spanner! Oleg told me about it. Anyway, whatever it was or wasn’t, I know poor little Peter hurt his paw.”
ROSIE: “So that is why we have to hurry, Paddy! Scout and I are going to the magic portal now to visit Mummy Marian’s house and help Sister Bear wrap mijn prins Peter’s delicate and beautiful paw in bandages!”
SCOUT: “And to comfort him!”
ROSIE: “And so I can give him 10,000 soft snuffly kisses!”
SCOUT: “And between us, we will make mijn beste vriend Peter better again!”
ROSIE: "And you can also see Aurora!"
SCOUT: *Blushes.* "Well, that too, but first and foremost always, mijn allerbeste vriend!"
ROSIE: “So it is princess Rosie and Scout to the rescue!”
SCOUT: “Scout and princess Rosie to the rescue!”
ROSIE and SCOUT: *Hurry away with bandage to the magic portal.*
PADDY: “Good luck and give all our love to sweet little Peter!” *Waves.*
My bears Paddy and Scout have made very good friends with two bears in Holland called Peter and Oleg (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577154558... and www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577233464...) and their MummyMarian Kloon (on and off). Peter and Scout are very similar and have become best friends. Peter also loves Rosie and she loves him, so they have become prince and princess to one another. It is true that Peter has been very busy working on Scout’s birthday present as you can see here: www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/54362354704/in/gallery... here: www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/54372644174/in/gallery... here: www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/54378154683/in/gallery... and here: www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/54380724977/in/gallery... or in the first comment below. Then part way though his poor little paw became stuck in the vice like grip of a spanner as you can see here: www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/54391746807/in/gallery... or in the first comment below. So, Rosie and Scout are off to help make Peter feel better!
My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.
He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
Rosie is Scout's cousin, because like Scout, she is a free trade knitted bear from Africa. She was made in Kenya by one of the Kenana Knitters, Martha Wanjira. She is made from home spun and dyed wool. She was a gift to me from two very dear friends, including the one who gave Scout to Paddy.
