Took this photo of the Berney Arms windmill at sunset. Its one of the highest mills on the Norfolk Broads and can be seen for miles around. Built in the last half of the 19th Century to grind cement, later used for drainage of the marshes. Standing approx 70ft tall with the sails being roughly the same length.

This is the view Carl Larsson had from his home and this is the lake where he took his family in the rowingboat to the small island where they were swimming and had thier partys ! A fantastic place indeed and a hint of where he got inspiration from in many of his paintings !

Ive been in the Stockholm archipelago for eight days and the first day I came there we had some rain....but a welcomed rain when it was very dry in nature.

Managed to click myself !! =) It was a tedious job though!

This was amongst the photographs taken by me on my first foray with a DSLR in Feb 2010 when all I could do was take my photographs in the automatic (CA) mode. I have always been very fond of it and rated it very highly. A couple of days back I revisited it and even put it on the first page of my photostream.

This morning I got up and felt it needs cropping. Here is the result. Not in an accurate square mode but close to it.

I must have clicked close to a hundred pictures of this girl or of others where she could be seen, but THIS was the only occasion I caught her looking up and the only one where I cant see her eyelids !!

Trust me its true . . .

A fellow poster at Flickr had commented on my other image that it was too tightly cropped. Well here it is 'almost' uncropped . . .

I like this image too but its a different image from that one - BECAUSE of the cropping and that is intentional. Its a question of what one is trying to achieve. I had enough images of her standing there with her profile, head bowed, eyes lowered - how many different pictures does one want like that? How many different variations of that slight smile ? unless one counts the changing expressions on the face of her friend next to her . . .

So I tried to "make a different image" out of it by cropping it very tight, deliberately, and lowering her head a bit further, by design. It is finally a question of what one is trying to do, isn't it.

As I mentioned to the kind fellow 'Flickrer' (is there such a word), I like both images but I know which one I will print and present to the bride :-)
