The viewing platform, inspired by its location next to historic Fire Station #35 and the San Francisco Bay and Bridge, features a BOW design, reminiscent of a boat's prow. This shape honors the fireboats and their critical role in San Francisco's history, notably during and after the Loma Prieta Earthquake. The sculpture is both an art piece and a commemorative work, celebrating the boathouse's heritage and featuring stories from those who experienced the quake. Like Fire Station #35's crew navigating waters without built landmarks, BOW highlights these hidden cultural histories. Positioned at the pier's edge, it extends over the water, offering stunning views of the bay, bridge, and fireboats. The sculpture invites visitors to explore via an accessible ramp, leading to a central area with glass panels that display historical images and quotations, emphasizing the cultural significance of Fire Station #35.
Brighton Pavilion

Brighton Pavilion is a Grade 1 listed building and a former Royal residence in Brighton, East Sussex.
The building heavily influenced by Indian architecture of the 19th century was designed and built by the famous architect John Nash. The work started in 1787 and was the brainchild of the future King to be George IV. The building was eventually completed in 1823 but had many additions to the original domicile and other master architects and craftsmen.
It fell out favour after George IV’s death in 1830 and went through some very lean years. However in the1950’s Queen Elizabeth permanently loaned the City Council well over 100 items of furniture and other antiquities. The Council then kick started a long period of restoration. For example restoring rooms and walls and making replicas of furniture etc., to bring the building back to life as it is now.
A fantastic experience for those who visit.

GOC Hertfordshire's walk on 13 April 2019, an 8.3-mile point-to-point walk from St Pancras Station to Paddington Station via Somers Town, Fitzrovia, Marylebone, Mayfair, Hyde Park, Marble Arch and Paddington, which was attended by 37(!) people.
