Heading into Casablanca early morning with the masque of Hassan ll in view. Haze is from the westerly winds blowing out the sand and dust of the Sahara desert.

We headed out of Provincetown Harbor at 5:30 am in search of Bluefin Tuna. We looked all over, but nothing showed. Eventually we decided to head toward the beaches and try for some smaller game. There we found some bluefish, and everybody caught one!

A single light shines from the Cape Cod Mainland, and above, Jupiter remains the last "star" to fade in the early morning light.
We got a great sunrise and favorable weather for our rescheduled tuna trip. (No Tuna though!)

Ferry rides are one of the best parts of the Pacific Northwest. I try ride them whenever I have even a reasonably-related reason to do so and I encourage anyone visiting the Puget Sound to go out of their way to catch a ferry here or there. One of my favorites is the Seattle-Bremerton run, mostly because it is a nice long one. Plenty of time to stand out on the deck at the bow of the ship with the wind in your face. Or to walk back to the stern and watch the land recede away. On a recent trip up to Whidbey Island I had an opportunity to catch a new ferry. There are two ways on and off Whidbey. One is via the Deception Pass Bridge to the north. And that is a marvelous way to come onto the island. That pass is pretty breath-taking. The other way is by ferry. So after having driven on and off the island via bridge a few times I was bound to drive the length of the island and egress via ferry. The Clinton-Mukilteo ferry is brief, right around 15 minutes or so. But it is still pleasant and still gave me enough time for an exposure or two. Though I rushed it a bit and underexposed this one. Negatives hold a surprising amount of information though and will forgive quite a bit of photographer error, so I was able to pull this one back, though it got a smidge grainy. Still, I liked this image, as much for the experience as the result.
On a related note, this is also a reminder (to those who read this far) that I have a show of images coming up December 1st at the Camerawork Gallery here in Portland! The show runs from 3-5pm. The work is all curated from my selection of images made on and along the Washington and Oregon coastline, a strip of land/sea that has long inspired me.
