Epic summer evening clouds
The cool clock tower and bleak, "empty old factory" look caught my eye at the edge of Quartermaster Plaza, a strip mall filled with big-box stores. To my surprise, this building actually houses the local counter-terrorism "fusion center" for police and Homeland Security in the Philadelphia region. (These were established nationwide after 9/11)
In the past five or ten years the coin-fed parking meters have been replaced by digital payment at central poles equipped with hardware and software to accept a few digital forms of payment as well as cash. This photo shows one of the signs mounted next to each pair of spaces along the curb. It is a stone's throw from the curb, mostly likely the target of somebody frustrated by all the procedures now required instead of depositing a few coins.

Looking north on a very South Philly evening walk
THE spot for crab and seafood trucks in South Philly, I guess. I love Seafood & Things' blue school of fish admist their flashier friends.
When I entered the oasis I no longer noticed all the cars everywhere.
